It was not surprising that people didn’t rush to the club today with no chance of flying. Unfortunately, by the time there was sufficient numbers to give lectures, people had already found things to do!
It was great to see Junior members Adam Smyth (junior leader) and Arthur Lean today, they almost immediately went to the simulator, leaving us oldies to sit by the fire and moan about this terrible winter!
There were faces today that I have not seen for many weeks, it was lovely to hear the chatter in the warm clubhouse the like of which have been absent for what seems like forever.
Several members used the Club Simulator to sharpen their skills, for some, even the basic mnemonic checks were not flowing off the tongue!
Adam Smyth flew from Nympsfield to the Mynd with Arthur Lean, Josh Howlett and Mike Wilmott headed east from North Hill to The Park and Josh continued on to Nympsfield!

It was lovely to see Chris Mew today, he used the sim to good effect as did Chris Cooke.
By lunchtime the clubhouse was buzzing, several members of the public arrived for lunch, they are all local and told us how they are spreading the word about our wonderful club!
There seems to be a growing awareness of our club locally, we are gaining a reputation of being extremely friendly and welcoming, something we need to work on continually, you never know when we might need their support!

After lunch nearly everyone rallied around to either clear the hangar of gliders ready for the DG505, or to actually rig the DG after its Annual Inspection led by Carl Tharme..
It was fully rigged in less that 15 mins with only the wing tape to be applied by Richard Lean when back tucked away in the hangar!
With the weather due to slightly improve we will be doing real flying before long.
The days will be long and sunny before you know it and the log burner will be a distant memory…….Mark Courtney
