The Private Owners lined up on the grid for an Ad -Hoc day, with a main task set for Out and Return to Candover Church near Lasham 309kms.
Pete Startup 230 sums it up “A day out for the North Hill Nomads. Somerset Levels pretty blue on return so went South to the sea air convergence which helped me home – not sure I needed to do that really as I probably had sufficient height to cross and get to the clouds that were on the Blackdowns. Congrats to the new badge bandits today.”
Also completed by JB and Phil Morrison in DD3, Alan Rappaport escaping from Bumblebee made an attempt in FWH SF27 “Wasn’t a classic gliding day as far as I’m concerned, by which I mean that the lift wasn’t always where I would have expected it to be. Difficult avoiding the airspace around Lasham in an older glider. Sea air, as I travelled further west, curtailed my flight prematurely”
John Pursey and Stirling Melhuish in AXB the Eagle landed short “Fantastic day going great guns up until battery failure after Salisbury removed a vario from the equation! Seat of the pants most of the way home but not quite…”
John Allan Mini Nimbus made an attempt at 500km, but aborted on the 2nd leg of the double O/R.
Dan Hender was late to the party working in the morning, but flew DG505 with Rob Hender for 181kms.
