By 8:30am there were only a few faces at the club checking out the ground equipment, however by the time of the briefing at 9:30am the two-seater list had grown to 12!
Duty instructor, Simon Leeson, aided by Martin Woolner started the flying in the DG505 at 11:15am, after the long walk to the west end of the field to set up for flying.

Working through the training list continued towards lunchtime, with the private owners appearing on the airfield at about 12:30pm, Dan Hender (JDP) taking the lead, followed by Shaun Dayman (202), Mark Wallis (CEC), John Allen (KPV), John Burrow and Nick Jones (DD3), John Pursey and Stirling Melhuish (AXJ), Simon Minson (SM) and Eric Alston (G29) and the Ron & Dan (711).
Dan achieved another 300+km at one of his ‘slower speeds’ – 87kph,
We were able to carry on through lunch when Paul Summers and Peter Smith took a couple of trainee pilots, Martin Woolner cleared Rob Hender solo in the DG505, and flying continued until 6pm.
Thanks to all the trainees who helped all day on the airfield… private owners it has been noted! 🙄

At 7pm the evening shenanigans began with our ‘World Cup, phew it’s all over’ party! Vicki put on another
great spread and with my games and hydrations breaks we had a lovely evening. – Sally Hender
