Even less people turned up today for the “#2 great clear out” but those who did gave everything. First job was to take the Perkoz to the bottom apron outside the workshop in readiness for its annual inspection.
We then all but emptied the glider hangar, non-flying items like chairs and tables were moved to the tunnel.

A large amount of junk that had accumulated over the years was disposed of, Team Eagle removed several items to be stored elsewhere now that they have room.
Then the floor was swept, the purlins were blasted by Pete Smith’s leaf blower, they were hoovered by team Heir, father David, and the only junior on site today Arthur.
Thanks also to Josh Howitt for helping.

Andrew Logan worked tirelessly today, he was everywhere!
Fair to say I don’t think I can remember seeing the hangar so clean and tidy!
The ‘tunnel of doom’ was next to be attacked, team leader was Pete Smith, he organised the spare tractor wheels to be moved to the tractor store with the help of Paul Medlock, a far more logical place to keep them! Stirling Melhuish came up to grab the old gates that have been in the way for many years. Gradually the tunnel of doom started to look like a place that could actually be useful!
The summer patio chairs and tables are now housed in here. Lots of old stuff found its way into the bins.
The next job was to fold the wings of the Club EuroFox and do a test fit into Bumblebee’s rather splendid trailer. With a few tiny mods it will fit perfectly. The trailer will give us the option of transporting the Fox should it need to go away for repair or indeed an expedition.
Last job was de rigging the Perkoz and putting it into the workshop, fair to say that “team cleanup” were getting a little wet and weary by now!
Everyone retreated to the clubhouse to chat near the fire with a coffee in hand. I’m sorry if I have not mentioned your name but you know who you all were! Well done!
At 5pm the DSGC Charitable Trust held the Annual General Meeting, with a good attendance of 24.
The Charitable Trust is for everyone at DSGC, any request for financial support is always considered both individual or larger projects.
A huge thanks to the Trustees who run this charity, special thanks should be given to Sally and Jill, supported by Rob and Pete of course!
Please sign up to “Easyfundraising” to help this cause, you never know you could be the next person to benefit from the trust! Following the meeting there was a well-supported Roast Dinner from Vicki – Thanks as always to Vicki and Layla – Mark Courtney
