Cloudbase was a little low and varied somewhat throughout the day, but did not preclude our instructors, James Flory, Peter Smith, Simon Minson and Ian Mitchell from maximising the flying opportunities of the day, especially as the predicted afternoon rain showers failed to materialise.

We flew from the N/E launch point from 10:05 until 17:30 and carried out 43 launches, with flight times in single figures apart from an early aerotow in the Junior to 3000’, giving the longest flight of 23 minutes before cloudbase lowered sufficiently to deter further attempts.

The ‘Junior’ fraternity was well represented and did much to enhance the launch rate. We were pleased to welcome to the fold Oscar Buckingham, who, under the guidance of fellow ‘Juniors’ Adam and Arthur, made excellent progress in learning many of the ground tasks.

Congratulations to Christian Sheer on his First Solo at North Hill. Arthur Hier carried out his second solo flights in the K-21. In addition there were many training flights in both the K2l and Perkoz. Junor LRD provided our solo pilots with their fix for the week.

Thanks to our hard working instructors, winch drivers and ground crew for keeping the show in the air and to Mike F., Mark C. and Dave P. for repairing the main wheel on Junior FZF. – Barbie
