Thursday 8 October

The day started with unexpected blue skies (much different to the mist forecasted all day) whilst towing the gliders to the launchpoint ready for the briefing.
Clouds started to form above us making the day a promising soaring day.

Instructors, Ron Johns and Chris Wool worked through the list all day, making sure everyone has flown.

The wind in the morning was unfavourable with a gusty crosswind, but as the day carried on it turned into a headwind creating lovely ridge induced thermals and wave bars.

New junior member Arlan West who had returned from his first flight, was keen to learn the ropes and had a nice soaring flight.

Private glider 230 joined in, having the longest flight time of 2 hours and 3 minutes.

The days total flight time was 14 hours 21 minutes over 40 flights! – Jack Sewell
