Bright sun in Crewkerne, thick fog on the A303, then gloomy low cloud at North Hill. Not a terribly good start, but a reasonable number of optimistic members turned up for a briefing by Peter Smith, Shaun Dayman and Robert Lee on the tug. Thank you all.
The kit came out with no hurry, ( two two-seaters and a Junior), and we finally had eight launches by 1 o’clock lunch, in a generally north wind situation.
Things improved, and three or four private gliders turned up, and apart from a couple of delays through a little rain and the odd walker, we managed 30 flights, winch, aerotow and with some delayed First Flight visitors looked after by Chris Warnes in really a nice afternoon.
Mike Wilmott broke the hour in LRD, best of the bunch. Packed up at 5, thinking the beach would have been fine for tea. – Jonathan Erskine
