It was looking like we were in for a rather nice day of flying, with sunshine from the very start. By the time I arrived at the club, the gliders and launch point were already out and ready to go. We were literally off to a flying start!
We started with our daily briefing, discussing the weather and what we could expect from the conditions. With the sun shining and everything ready to go, we soon got the first few flights underway.
After the first few flights, the wind started to develop more of a tailwind, which meant that after lunch we needed to switch to the other end of the field. Once everything had been moved and the launch point was set up again, flying continued in the sunshine.
The K21, Perkoz, DG-505 and Junior were all used throughout the day, giving plenty of opportunities for pilots and students to get airborne and make the most of the conditions. There was some lift around at times, allowing some flights to stay airborne for longer and enjoy a little extra time in the sky.
It was great to see all four gliders being used during the day, with plenty of activity around the launch point. Having the gliders and launch point already out and ready to go before the morning briefing certainly helped get the day off to a good start.
All in all, it turned out to be a very enjoyable day at DSGC, some good flying and a great selection of gliders taking to the sky. – Charlie Fabb
