Sunday 21 June

As it was Father’s Day unsurprisingly the Club was a little quieter than usual but there was enough interest and a good weather forecast to allow a plan to fly.

With the limited number of members, it was decided
that the day would be aerotowing only and after daily inspections the K21 and Twin Acro were soon being walked down to the West end of the airfield.

As the morning unfolded James Flory and Alan Rappaport shared the two seater flights – with evident thermals starting to appear late morning Jeff Taberham (Mosquito 380), Pete Startup (Discus 230) and Simon Minson (ASW20 SM) all took to the skies for some local soaring.

Simon Jordy looked after our First Flight visitor and after a short lunch break in the afternoon Stuart Proctor took over as tug pilot to complete the final aerotows of the day including a flight allowing John Sillett to show that his flying skills are still up to the mark.

By late afternoon the gliders were all put away, a quiet enjoyable day had by all. – Mike Sloggett
