The day ahead looked good, so gridding started at 8.30am, with the Eagle (BBB) second behind Bob Bromwich (94). The briefing at 10:00am set a ‘Visit our Cousins’ Task, which had the competitors visit as many BGA clubs as they can, scoring points for each one as well as OLC distance and other bonuses!

DD3, (Phil and Gill Morrison) set a 140km task due to lack of sleep, and needing to go shopping and purchase another airbed!!! JZK (Dan and Rob Hender) managed 308km in 4 hours getting down to Darlton GC to the south and Sutton Bank to the north, getting double sea crossing bonus points at the Humber bridge.

The Eagle (Chris Gill and JB) did a similar flight of 270km, but fell short of making it back by just 1.2 miles. A very easy retrieve for an Eagle landout!
With John Pursey on the airfield all day, a ragout was provided for tea, a great first day to the Competition.
Results:
Team Eagle 1st ( can anyone beat the handicap?)
Team Hender 7th
DD3 – all to play for
– Sally Hender
