Sunday started off with bright sunshine and blue skies with a nice flyable day ahead. Briefing was led by standin Instructor Mike Sloggett with the decision to put the launch point in the North East part of the field and then put the winch in the middle at point A. All the gliders where brought out apart from LRD due to lack of demand for single seaters. Mike took the first flight in the K21 and was shortly back after 6 minutes. Flight times continued to be low with the RASP indicating that the afternoon may be more promising.

Robert Lee made a start on his group of First Flights and lots of smiles were seen. We continued to fly through the morning with Mike and Martin Woolner both getting through the 2 seater list. We then stopped for lunch at 12:30 and restarted at 13:45 with more instructor help from James Flory and Shaun Dayman. At 14:30 we then saw clouds! This then caused a good 3 private owners to come and get in on some of the action. Flights were now lasting from 10 minutes to more than an hour. Cloud base was quite low sadly but people were still staying up creeping under cloud base.

Well done to Adam on achieving the longest flight of the day managing to stay up for 1 hour and 35 minutes. At 16:30 the blue sky was starting to appear again and the thermals was sadly all to be gone. We then began to pack away all the gliders and were all packed up for 17:15. Overall waiting patiently gave us a very good day to fly.
Thank you to everyone on the ground today who got stuck in and made operations as smooth as possible for us today. Once again big thanks to Mike, Martin, Shaun and James for powering through the list and getting everyone flown. And also huge thanks to Richard Roberts and Trevor Russell for taking turns in the winch the whole day! – Adam Smyth
