Thur 13 August – Comp Ent 2026

After getting home at 2am from the retrieve at Long Mynd, we were very pleased to discover that Thursday Tasks were scrubbed due to the very hot weather.
Aerotows were offered to anyone who still wanted to fly. We pulled JZK onto the grid, but by 2:30pm made the decision not to go, and retiring to the clubhouse bar was a much better decision. DD3 took a launch and flew across to Pocklington ready for next week. BBB was left by the trailer ready for a better day tomorrow.
However, our decision to sit in the clubhouse made us visible for a retrieve when another pilot landed out near Whitby with no retrieve crew. Rob stayed behind in case needed for DD3, while Dan and I took the trailer 1.5 hours north to get them.
However, on arrival at the field, we discovered the trailer strut had broken and we were unable to load the glider in! Fortunately, a very helpful farmer was happy for the glider to be left in the field overnight, for collection tomorrow.
We got back in time for John’s stroganoff 😉- Sally Hender
