Sunday 25 October – Junior Expedition Long Mynd

The day started with lots of talking and hope of flying possibly early morning / afternoon. First a briefing by the Duty Instructor on circuit direction, ridge rules and general weather for the day. The forecast was for the strong westerly wind to die down and let us fly – sadly that did not happen in traditional gliding style.

We were forced to be grounded as the wind was about 40knots gusting 50 most of the day. We filled the day with plenty of simulator flying. Adam, Arthur and Benjie completing a task from Denbigh Gliding club to Snowdon and the Mynd. Then Jack and Sam completing a small task in the Alps.

There was also a circuit lecture from Adam and Benjie about circuit direction with a SW wind. Adam.

Arthur and Benjie went on a nice walk though the local wood and Mark, Simon and Mike all took everyone for a drive around the airfield showing the different places you can and can’t land and what different places are called.

Overall I think we made the most of the day, I think we’re all looking forward to our trip to Cosford tomorrow,
