Bank Holiday flying – thanks to Mike Sloggett. The forecast was for overnight rain to clear during the morning but by 8am it had already cleared to a bright NW wind which had a touch of Autumn in it. A few early members had readied the ground equipment and James Flory conducted the daily brief. The plan was for normal club flying till lunch and then a group of 15 scouts were booked to fly in the afternoon. A left over from an evening group which had been cancelled. The morning went well with training and check flights. Chris Warnes completed his IFP annual checks. The new launch system working without any problems.
At 2pm a group of very excited young scouts plus attendant families descended on the Club house, Paul Summers conducted the safety briefing which ended just as a heavy shower arrived, thankfully short-lived. Then the fun began with Somon Jordy, Mike Sloggett, James Flory and Chris Warnes sharing the flying. Some club launches were fitted in around the scouts. Notably Peter Startup 230, who disappeared to the North for the longest flight. The last glider landing at nearly 6pm. The scouts and families were very happy with the day with thoughts of more group evenings next year. In all 37 glider flights and 7 TMG. A good way to spend a Bank Holiday Monday.
