Tuesday 18 August – Course Week

It started off with a low cloud and a misty morning postponing flying until 12pm. This gave us a great opportunity to do some ridge soaring lectures ahead of a possible ridge soarable day. We then hopped into the simulator to consolidate the lecture on Talgarth’s ridges. By this point the cloud had started to lift and we began launching.

The day consisted of 2-seater training for most of the day with quite a few gusts creating very tight and small thermals which created a great challenge and learning opportunity for all pilots. The sometimes gusty approach also created interesting experiences for all. The day also consisted of some wave that was too high for anyone to reach, it just hindered us. The wind luckily then died down enough for Benjie and Adam both to have a couple flights in the Junior in the afternoon. Successful day for all. – Benjie Pitts
