Saturday started with all the gliders being brought out to be DI’d apart from the Grob which is getting ready to be cleaned and sent back. We had our briefing at 9:30 where John Pursey set the plan for the day where we would launch from the east with northerly circuits. With quite a long 2-seater list and also single seat list all the gliders were brought over to the north eastern corner.
With HCX back it looked to be an efficient day for the 2 seat training. Initially flights were starting to scrape around for lift but at around 11 the thermals improved severely. Lots of private owners then assembled to the aerotow line to get in on some of the action. At this point in the day it started to become much quieter on the ground as more and more gliders were able to stay up. During this time Dan was showing juniors Adam and Arthur on how to rig the K6 which we then both flew for the first time. Congratulations to Arthur and Adam for this amazing achievement.
Congratulations also to Andy Williams becoming our latest Tug Pilot.

We continued to fly through the afternoon where flights were starting to become much shorter. With most of the private owners who launched earlier then came down after nice 3 hour long flights. We continued to fly up until around 5 where we then gathered all the gliders to be put back in the hanger. Whilst this was going on we then got a nice breeze from the smoke of the coolant in the gator which had started to become very hot.

James Hood and an army of people were quickly to the rescue. We had all the gliders and vehicles packed away for 5:30. A big thank you to John Pursey and Steve Westlake for their help getting through the list and also to Dan Hender for mentoring the juniors to fly the K6. As always thank you to all the people on the ground to make operations as smooth as possible we couldn’t do it without you! – Adam Smyth
